Meet Your Guides

Stephen Hay
20+ years

Stephen Hay

One of our more experienced guides, Steve has been guiding for around 20 years. His love of history and his passion for all things Scottish are second to none.

A former army veteran, Steve has had his fair share of life experiences. Before moving into tourism, he became a well-sought-after Toastmaster, hosting important functions and many (including celebrity) weddings.

During the quieter winter months, Steve crafts customised targes (Scottish shields) and ships them all over the world. Each targe is unique to the buyer, often featuring a Clan crest, Coat of Arms, or a design of the customer's choosing.

He is also a published author on Scottish Clan Castles.

Ross Hartill
International Experience

Ross Hartill

Born in Edinburgh I followed my Grandfathers footsteps and joined his business and became a Blacksmith. I got behind the scenes of many famous landmarks in and around Edinburgh.

My first real taste of the Highlands was a week long school trip, I instantly fell in love with my Wee Country. I used to ride my motorcycle all over Scotland and intentionally explore alternative routes, some would say I was getting lost, either way I managed to see a lot that Scotland has to offer.

I spent 20 years living in America, living in 4 different States and still enjoying travelling around the States during my downtime.

I love to find out the reason our Guests are coming to Scotland as we have so much to offer, if you have a Bucket List for Scotland I want to know so we can hit everything on the list, including Unicorns and Nessie Spotting, yes, they both do exist!
