Scotland's most relaxed region — gentle walks, Highland cows & whisky on our 7-day small group tour
Often described as the gateway between the Highlands and the Lowlands, The Trossachs offer a softer, greener side of Scotland — and on Day 5 of the tour, that contrast is very deliberate.
After the drama of Glencoe and Rannoch Moor, the Trossachs provide space to slow down, enjoy gentle landscapes, and experience traditional rural Scotland at an unhurried pace.
A day of gentle exploration through Scotland's most peaceful landscapes

Scenic mountain drive through woodland with sweeping loch views

Leisurely walk by calm waters with literary connections

Meet Highland cows and see the famous bicycle tree

Traditional lunch in historic stone-walled surroundings

Educational masterclass on Scotland's national drink

Second evening in the Gateway to the Highlands
The day begins with a drive over the Duke's Pass, one of Scotland's most scenic forest routes.
Winding through woodland and open hillside, the Duke's Pass offers:
It's a perfect introduction to the Trossachs — dramatic, but never overwhelming.

From the high ground, the tour descends to Loch Katrine, a loch famous for its calm waters and literary connections.
This part of the day is intentionally gentle:
For many guests, this is one of the most peaceful moments of the entire tour.
One of the day's most memorable stops is at Brig o' Turk, home to one of the Trossachs' most photographed curiosities — the famous bicycle tree.
But the real highlight here is far fluffier.
Meeting and feeding Hairy Highland Cows is an experience that's equal parts charming and unforgettable. It's moments like this that define small group travel: informal, personal, and full of genuine character.

Lunch is taken at a traditional 17th-century inn, where thick stone walls, wooden beams, and local food create a true sense of place.
Rather than choosing convenience, the tour prioritises atmosphere:
It's another example of how pacing matters just as much as scenery.
The day concludes with a Whisky Tasting Masterclass, offering a fun and educational introduction to Scotland's national drink.
This experience is designed for all levels:
It's interactive, light-hearted, and a fitting way to round off a relaxed day.

The night is spent once again in Callander, allowing guests to settle in without repacking.
Staying two nights in Callander:
This balance is intentional — and often appreciated most at this stage of the tour.
The Trossachs aren't included to "fill time." They're included to:
Balance intense Highland landscapes
Offer gentler walking and exploration
Provide cultural and sensory variety
On a small group tour, this slower day often becomes a favourite.
The Trossachs Trail forms Day 5 of our 7 Day Small Group Tour of Scotland, offering a relaxed contrast to the dramatic Highland landscapes.
